RED RIBBON CLUB

Red Ribbon Club is a movement started by the Government of India in schools and colleges through which, students will spread awareness over HIV / AIDS. It envisages to instil charity mind among all the students to extend their able help towards developing healthy life styles, donating blood to all the needy by promotion of Regular voluntary blood donation.


Red Ribbon Club Guidelines

The significance of Red Ribbon in HIV / AIDS is:
  • Red like Love, as a symbol of passion and tolerance for those affected.
  • Red like Blood, representing the pain caused by many people who have of AIDS.
  • Red like the anger about the helplessness about which we are facing for a disease for which there is still no cure.
  • Red is a sign of warning not to carelessly ignore one of the biggest problems of our time.

Red Ribbon Symbol

The red ribbon is a symbol for both drug prevention and for the fight against AIDS. The Red Ribbon foundation is an organization founded in 1993 whose main purpose is the education about prevention of the Human Immunodeficiency Virus or HIV, Acquired Deficiency Syndrome Related Complex, ARC and AIDS.

"CELEBRATING LIFE" AIDS Awareness programme was conducted on 13 January, 2012.

Dengue awareness programme – Arasoor village (23.11.2012)

V V College of Engineering conducted Dengu awareness programme on 23.11.2012 in Arasoor Panchayat Office in coordination with Arasoor Panchayat. VV College principal Dr. P. Melba Mary and Arasoor Panchayat President Mrs. Balambigai presided over the awareness programme

Red Ribbon Club programme officer Mr. I. Balasubramanian exemplified dengu preventing measures, life-threatening effect of the dengue fever and the treatment through slide show. In his speech he insisted to avoid water stagnation nearby home.

V V College Director Dr. I. Sundarapandi, Arasoor panchayat vice-president Mrs.selvi, Ex-president Mr. Jeyapandian, NSS programme officer Mr.A.Bright,YRC programme officer Mr. S. G. Jebastin Andrews, Maintenance officer Mr. I. Ilango, Arasoor panchayat ward members and students felicitated the awareness programme. People residing at Arasoor panchayat about 250 members got benefited through this Dengue awareness programme.

Blood Donation Camp in V V College of Engineering

V V College of Engineering organised a blood donation camp in its college premises on 29.08.2013 (Thursday). Principal Dr. P. Melba Mary presided over the programme and explained the significance of blood donation to all the students. The camp was held in the presence of a team of doctors under Dr. Kamala from Tirunelveli Government Medical College, High Ground. Many students identified their blood groups and donated blood enthusiastically. Director (Admin) Dr. I. Sundarapandi, NSS Program Officer Mr. A. Bright, YRC Program Officer Mr. S. G. Jebastin Andrews, Dr.J. Daniel Raja Durai, Estate Officers Mr. C. Elango and Mr. P. Suresh, Enforcement Officer Mr.I. Solomon Packiyaraj, staff members, and students facilitated the camp. RRC Program Officer Mr. I. Bala Subramanian, had made all the arrangements.
