Youth Red Cross

Youth represent a substantial part of the membership of Red Cross for its humanitarian commitment. Young volunteers can make a significant contribution to meet the needs of the most vulnerable people within their local communities through Youth Red Cross programme. This has been designed to involve young people as much as possible in the movement and its activities not only as workers and also as beneficiaries, but as partners in management

The programme focuses on the following areas:

  • • Promote life and health through training and education on safety, primary health care and healthy living
  • • Encourage community service through training and education
  • • Disseminate the seven fundamental principles of Red Cross and Red Crescent movement through activities that encourage the Red Cross ideals
  • • Promote international friendship with activities that cultivate a humanitarian spirit
  • ⦁Technical support in the development of youth programmes, fund-raising, identification of material and human resources.

Objective Of YRC

  • • To conduct social and health awareness programmes
  • • Awareness on the care of their own health and that of others
  • • To encourage the students to extend their humanitarian services to the society
  • • To offer First Aid Training to all the YRC volunteers
  • • To develop leadership quality among the students
  • • The understanding and acceptance of civic responsibilities and acting accordingly with humanitarian concern, to fulfill the same
  • • To offer First Aid Training to all the YRC volunteers
  • • To inculcate in the Youth of our country
  • • To understand and acceptance of civic and human responsibilities

Goal Of YRC

The Indian Red Cross Society aims to inspire, encourage and initiate at all times, all forms of humanitarian activities so that human suffering can be minimized, alleviated and even prevented, thus contribute to creating a more congenial climate for peace

INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY CELEBRATION

The Youth Red Cross, Red Ribbon Club and National Service Scheme of V V College of Engineering, Thoothukudi organized a International Yoga Day Celebration on 15th June 2023.

Dr. K. S. Saji, Principal, V V College of Engineering, started the programme at 11:00am.

Mr. B. K. Geddan and team from Brahma Kumaris Raja Yoga Center, Tirunelveli conducted the program effectively.

    They demonstrated the following topics:

  • 1. Asanas
  • 2. Meditation and
  • 3. Who am I?

60 Volunteer Students from various departments and 20 staff members (Teaching and Non Teaching) from various departments participated in this program. They are practiced with the help of Yoga team effectively.

YRC programme officer, Mr. A. Simon Christopher, AP/Mech, RRC Programme officer, Mr. A. Sivasubramanian, ASP/Mech, NSS Programme officer, Mr. P. Muthuraman, AP/Civil, faculty members, System admin and students of volunteers made all the arrangements for the smooth conduct of the programme.

ONLINE CAREER GUIDANCE PROGRAMME

The Youth Red Cross Society, V V College of Engineering, Thoothukudi organized a Online career guidance Programme on 18th December 2021.

The pogramme conducted from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm using Unacademy Learner (Mobile app).

The Chief guest, Mr. R. Vivekanandan, Gate educator, Unacademy (PAN INDIA) conducted the webinar session.

  • The Webinar session covered,
  • i) What are engineering and non – engineering government jobs
  • ii) Preparation strategy for GATE
  • iii) GATE Vs Non GATE PSU’S Vs Other Government jobs
  • iv) DDR (Double Digit Rank) Secrets
  • v) How to prepare effectively from home
  • vi) How Government exam preparation help with placement preparation

Among 346 students attended, 270 were active participants(full session). Faculty members from various deparments participated in this pogramme and updated their knowledge.

The YRC programme officer, Mr. P. Anand Prabu, Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, faculty members and students of YRC volunteers made all the arrangements for the smooth conduct of the programme.

NATIONAL EDUCATION DAY & FIRST YEAR ORIENTATION PROGRAMME

The Youth Red Cross Society, V V College of Engineering, Thoothukudi organized a National Education Day and First Year Orientation Programme on 11th November 2021.

This National Education Day and First Year Orientation Programme provided a flourishing platform for the students and faculty members to explore and share their expertise in the recent advances in the field of Engineering studies.

Mrs. Idavathi Gunaseeli, Faculty of S&H Department welcomed the gathering. Dr. K. S. Saji, Principal, V V College of Engineering presided over the function and delivered the presidential address. The Chief guest, Mr. Nambikkai Rama, SBET – Director – Satkriya Group, Chennai motivated to get successful in your life, most importantly, you need to set your objectives, those things which will help you to achieve a goal. Finally, Dr. Hariharasubramanian, Head of the Department of S & H delivered the vote of thanks.

About 200 students and 25 faculty members participated in this pogramme and updated their knowledge.
