YOUTH RED CROSS

Youth represent a substantial part of the membership of Red Cross for its humanitarian commitment. Young volunteers can make a significant contribution to meet the needs of the most vulnerable people within their local communities through Youth Red Cross programme. This has been designed to involve young people as much as possible in the movement and its activities not only as workers and also as beneficiaries, but as partners in management.



The programme focuses on the following areas:
  • Promote life and health through training and education on safety, primary health care and healthy living
  • Encourage community service through training and education
  • Disseminate the seven fundamental principles of Red Cross and Red Crescent movement through activities that encourage the Red Cross ideals
  • Promote international friendship with activities that cultivate a humanitarian spirit
  • Technical support in the development of youth programmes, fund-raising, identification of material and human resources.

RED CROSS EMBLEM

Red Cross on a white background, is the Emblem of Red Cross, recognized in 1864 as the distinctive sign for medical relief teams on the battle field. The IRCS adopted RED CROSS as its emblem.

YRC IN OUR COLLEGE

Youth Red Cross was inaugurated in our college on 27.06.2011. It was inaugurated by Dr.G.Mahadevan, YRC Co-ordinator, Anna University of Technology,Tirunelveli. The main scope of YRC is to encourage the students to donate the blood and save the life of many needed people. Cultivating the habit of donating blood among youth develops a more service motive young Indians. Mr.S.G.Jebastin Andrews, A.P /Department of Chemistry, is in-charge of Y.R.C Programme Officer from 02.07.2012

ACTIVITIES: BLOOD DONATION CAMP

Students of Our College in association with Government Medical College, Tirunelveli conducted One day Blood Donation Camp on 30 July 2011. About 30 units of blood were donated to the Government Medical College, Tirunelveli to save the life of ailing people.

PLANTING OF SAPLINGS IN VV COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING

On the eve of Nature's day V V College of Engineering organised the planting of saplings program on 03.10.2012 (Wednesday) near the college entrance. Youth Red Cross Program Officer Mr. S. G. Jebastin Andrews organised the program. Principal Dr. P. Melba Mary presided over the function and planted the saplings near the college entrance. She spoke about global warming and the importance of growing trees in the surroundings to save the environment. Director (Admin) Dr. I. Sundarapandi and Management Representative Ms. T. S. Sundari were also present. NSS Program Officer Mr. A. Bright, RRC Program Officer Mr. I. Bala Subramanian, Enforcement Officer Mr.I. Solomon Packiyarajan, Physical Directors Mr. Suresh and Ms. S. Mercy, Estate Officers Mr. Elango and Mr. Suresh, Garden Supervisor Mr. Kamaraj, professors, and students felicitated the program.

DENGUE RALLY

VV College of Engineering has organised a Dengue awareness rally on 2.11.2012 to create a sense of importance among the public about communicable, life-threatening disease and its preventive measures. Mrs. J. Balamugambigai Jeyapandian , President of Arasoor Panchayat flagged off the rally.

Dr. P.Melba Mary Principal, VV College of Engineering along with Arasoor Panchayat president led the rally form the front. Students of VV College of Engineering about 250 issued bit notice and voiced against the Dengue. The rally started from Sammaria school moving through the important streets of Tisaiyanvillai to BSNL office. Review of preventive measure were displayed to the public with the help of placards carried by the students.

FIRE SAFETY PROGRAMME

Fire Safety programme was conducted for the student community of V V College Of Enginnering through YRC unit, on 20.09.2013. YRC – Programme officer Mr. S.G. Jebastin Andrews welcomed the gathering. Principal Dr. P. Melba mary presided the programme. Assistant Divisional Fire Officer Mr. Kumaresan from Tirunelveli delivered key note address on fire safety and Mr. Jeyaprakash Station Fire Officer, and the co-workers from Tisayanvilai Fire station, demonstrated how to control fire, to the student community. Director Dr. I. Sundarapandi, NSS Programme officer Mr. A. Bright, Estate Officer Mr. C. Elango and Mr.P. Suresh, Enforcement Officer Mr. I. Solomon Packiaraj, teaching and non teaching faculty members of VVCOE Participated in this programme. RRC Programme Officer Mr. I. Balasubramanian proposed vote of thanks. YRC Programme Officer Mr. S.G. Jebastin Andrews organized the entire arrangements.
