M.E CAD/CAM

The Mechanical Engineering Department was established in the year 2010. The department has a team of highly qualified, dedicated and motivated members of faculty and well equipped laboratories to conduct Under Graduate and Post Graduate Programmes. The Department aims at generating employable mechanical engineers to lead a successful career and contribute to the society by excelling in their respective fields of endeavor. The field of mechanical engineering encompasses many exciting subjects such as Thermal Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering Design, Automobile Engineering, Computer Aided Design, Computer Aided Manufacturing, Power Plant Engineering, Refrigeration and Air conditioning, Mechatronics, Automation and Robotics. The department offers the following courses:

INFRASTRUCTURE & LAB FACILITIES

The Mechanical Engineering department has well equipped laboratories enabling the students to apply and verify the fundamentals which are taught at the class rooms. Students get a wide exposure and practical hands-on training in the sophisticated equipment during their lab sessions.

1. ENGINEERING PRACTICES LAB

More emphasis is being given to practical classes through effective, elaborate and rigorous training in Fitting, Welding, Foundry, Plumbing, Carpentry, Machine Assembly Practices and Various Lathe operations. Students are also exposed to the various tools to be used and exercises to be practised in the application of engineering practices. The workshop is also equipped with drilling and grinding machines for the benefit of students.


2. FLUID MECHANICS AND MACHINERY LAB

The main objective of this laboratory is to understand the properties of the fluids, conservation laws, hydraulics machines and applications of fluid.The major equipment in the Fluid mechanics and machinery lab are:

    This Laboratory introduces the students to the basic concepts of manufacturing processes. It is a world-class laboratory that is dedicated to improve manufacturing processes and systems. The major machinery are:

    CAD lab is well equipped with 80 computer systems with i5 processor to expose the students to design, analysis and visualization. Students are trained with a strong understanding of the Computer-aided design. The software packages are:

  • Auto desk education master suite 2013

  • 5. CAM LAB

    The students undergo extensive hands-on training in CNC machines with ample space and resources to carry out individual experiments. The distinct facilities are:

  • Edge cam software
  • Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM)
  • CNC lathe (Production type and trainer kit)
  • CNC milling (Production type and trainer kit)
  • computerized surface roughness testing machine (range of 0-10μm)

  • 6. STRENGTH OF MATERIALS LAB

    This lab enables the students to have a clear understanding about the Mechanics of Solids with practical testing for determining the strength of materials through the following major equipment:

  • Spring testing machine (2 Nos)
  • Impact testing machine (2 Nos)
  • 3000KN Compression testing machine
  • 60NM Torsion testing machine (2 Nos)
  • 40 Ton universal testing machine (2 Nos)
  • Rockwell hardness testing machine (2 Nos)

  • 7. DYNAMICS LAB

    This laboratory is equipped with the following modern instruments to conduct the various experiments which helps the students understand the methods of static, dynamic force analyses of mechanisms and the usage of measuring devices for dynamic testing:

  • Balancing of rotating masses apparatus

  • 9. THERMAL ENGINEERING LAB – I

    The main objective of this laboratory is to apply the thermodynamic laws and concepts on real time problems with the aid of the following equipment:

  • Multi cylinder petrol engine
  • Steam boiler test rig with all accessories
  • Steam turbine test rig with all accessories
  • Four stroke diesel engine with mechanical loading
  • Four stroke diesel engine with hydraulic loading
  • Four stroke diesel engine with electrical loading with data acquisition system
  • Single cylinder four stroke Petrol engine test rig with Electrical loading

  • 10. THERMAL ENGINEERING LAB – II

    The lab trains the students in various heat transfer parameters using the following equipment:

  • Refrigeration test rig
  • Air conditioning test rig
  • Two stage reciprocating air compressor
  • Natural and forced convection apparatus
  • Single stage reciprocating air compressor
  • Parallel flow and counter flow heat exchanger apparatus

  • 11. MECHATRONICS LAB

    This lab helps the students understand the interdisciplinary applications of electronics, electrical, mechanical and computer systems for the control of mechanical and electronic systems with the help of the following equipment:

  • LAB VIEW software
  • Automation studio software
  • Electro pneumatic trainer kit
  • Animation software for pneumatics
  • Electro pneumatic trainer kit with PLC
  • Servo controller interfacing for DC motor
  • Computerized data logging system with control for process variables like pressure flow and temperature.
