B.E CIVIL ENGINEERING

Man's sense of wonder and a longing for shelter have paved way for the tremendous growth of Civil Engineering. Civil Engineers establish society and culture. The world has seen many marvellous (Ancient & modern seven wonders of the world) wonders in this field. Being fully aware of this, our management started B.E., Civil Engineering in the year 2011. The Civil block is an engineering marvel and a cynosure of all eyes.

Highly qualified teaching faculty members, well equipped laboratories and workshops are the strengths of this department. Advanced licensed software is available to the students for taking up real time projects. The consultancy cell of this department tests the quality of materials like concrete, brick, soil, water, bitumen, aggregates and steel reinforcement.

INFRASTRUCTURE & LAB FACILITIES

The department of Civil Engineering is housed in a 1 lakh Sq.ft. four storey building. Even a whiplash glance of the building will inspire any one to choose this discipline. It includes modern lecture halls, smart class rooms and well equipped state-of-the-art laboratories for enabling the students to apply and verify the fundamentals that they have learned in the class rooms. The department also enrich with state of the art facilities equipped with the latest instruments and software for imparting technical knowledge on par with international requirements.

1. STRENGTH OF MATERIALS LAB

The quality of building materials is tested under environment as per Bureau of Indian Standard. The students are trained to apply loads to various construction materials under different equilibrium conditions. Tests on materials in compression, tension, torsion, bending, and buckling are performed. These conditions and/or constraints are designed to reinforce classroom theory by having the student perform required tests, analyze subsequent data, and present the results in a professionally prepared report.

2. CIVIL CAD LAB

Computer Aided Design Lab has forty computer systems exclusively installed with Civil Engineering Software. Autodesk Computer Aided Design and Drawing (AutoCAD) Software is used to draw 3D model with landscaping. Structural Analysis and Design for Professionals(STAAD.Pro) software facilitates the three dimensional analysis and design of structures under various loading conditions such as dead load, imposed load, wind load, seismic load and temperature effect as per IS Code. STAAD.Pro Foundation software supports features for analysis of foundation under various types of soil and environment.

3. ENVIRONMENT ENGINEERING LAB

Environment Engineering Lab is meant to analyze the quality of potable water and sewage water. Specialized instrument includes digital pH meter, digital turbidity meter, Calorimeter, muffle furnace, hot air oven, water bath, magnetic stirrer with hot plates, jar test apparatus, kjeldane apparatus, BOD analyzer, COD analyzer & refrigerator for sample storage.

4. SURVEY LAB

Surveying is the primary work done in any construction projects. This lab possesses traditional and modern instruments such as pocket stereoscope, total station and global positioning system (GPS). The students are trained in the field for measuring and recording details of an area of land.

5. SOIL MECHANICS LAB

Soil Mechanics Lab classifies and tests the mechanical properties of soil. The report from this lab is mandatory for the design of relevant foundation or structure. The properties of soil are studied by the student using both field and laboratory test methods according to the standards. The behavior of soil under different loading conditions is necessary for the safe design of soil structure.

6. DRAWING LAB

Drawing is the communication of the civil engineer. In this lab students are trained to draw various structures related to irrigation engineering such as dam, canal, aqueduct, channel etc., and environment engineering such as waste water treatment plant, potable water treatment plant, and sewage treatment plant.

7. CONCRETE AND HIGHWAY ENGINEERING LAB

Concrete lab is used to test concrete and its ingredients such as cement, fine aggregate and coarse aggregate for achieving the proper mix design. The concrete lab has BIS instruments to test concrete grade M125. Students learn the quality control to be maintained and the quality assurance to be given for concrete as per IS Code.

Highway engineering lab facilitates the student to study the properties of asphaltic materials and then designing the flexible pavements.
